Perry Lee Kidd, Jr., a retired Lieutenant with the Philadelphia Police Department, died Thursday, September 13, 2018. He was 81.
Born in Patapsco, Maryland on the family farm, Perry was the son of the late Anna (Berry) and Perry Lee Kidd, Sr.
Perry joined the United States Navy on July 17, 1955 in Baltimore, Maryland and was stationed at McGuire Air Force Base with Air Transport Squadron Six. He was discharged on July 17, 1959 with the rank of aviation electronics technician (navigation) airman. He joined the Philadelphia Police force after being discharged from the Navy and served in districts throughout the city including the Highway Patrol. While with the department, he earned an associate's degree in Criminal Justice from Northwestern University.
He was the beloved husband of Christine (nee Stepnowski); loving father of Joshua (Lauri), Michael (Colleen), Jason, Stephen (Peggy), Ryan, David (Kelly) and the late Christian; dear grandfather of Gabrielle, Michael Paul, Griffin, Stephen, Sean, Shana, Samantha, Jamie, Nicole, Patrick, Dan, Ashley and Steven; great-grandfather of Payton; and brother of Wayne (Pat), Romaine and the late Ronald. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Relatives, friends and members of City of Philadelphia FOP Lodge # 5 are invited to greet his family on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 9 AM at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 2535 E. Allegheny Avenue. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM. Burial will be at a later date.
