Ksenia J. Odarchenko of Fort Washington, PA, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018. She was 86.
Born in Daugavpils, Latvia, Ksenia was the daughter of the late Vladimir and Francisca (Novetcki) Ratkin.
She is the widow of the late George Odarchenko and is survived by: her daughter Katherine Jadwin; her son Vladimir G. Odarchenko; her granddaughter Natalie Jadwin; and her sister Katharina Jablokow and her husband George Jablokow.
Although her health diminished with age, Ksenia’s spirit and love continued to shine through throughout her life. At a young age, she and her family, including sister Katharina, immigrated to America to escape the tragedies occurring in her homeland during World War II.
Once in America, Ksenia’s family eventually settled in Philadelphia, PA, where her roots were planted.
Ksenia met her husband in 1952, and together they made a home in Fort Washington, PA and raised two wonderful children, Katherine and Vladimir, instilling in them the values and morals that they cherish.
Ksenia was fondly referred to as “Babish” by her grand-daughter Natalie, with whom she enjoyed a special bond. Her pride in Natalie was easily expressed through her smile and happiness with everything involving her grand-daughter.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Services on Friday evening at 6:45 PM at the Russian Orthodox Church of Our Lady Joy of All Who Sorrow, 20th & Brandywine Streets. Panakhyda prayers will be sung at 7 PM. Her Requiem Services will be sung at 10 AM on Saturday with a viewing beginning at 9 AM at the church.
