Katina G. Chokas of Northeast Philadelphia, died Monday, December 31, 2018; she was 72.
Born in Tholopoami on the Island of Chios, Greece, Katina was the daughter of the late Andreas and Anna (Stoulis) Giannoumis.
She came to the United States as a young teenager and married Anthony Chokas in 1962. She and Anthony owned and operated their grocery store, O.K. Hellas, for over 20 years before retiring.
Katina is survived by her children: Effie Levendis; Alex Chokas and his wife Cindy; Anna Hirst and her husband Brian; and the late Nicholas Chokas. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Petro Levendis, Niko Chokas, Christina Chokas, Aleko Chokas, Kaitlyn Hirst and Harry Hirst. Katina is the sister of Arieta Vafiadis (John), George Giannoumis (Ruth) and the late Kostas Giannoumis (Ioulia) and Marigo Kambouris (the late Dimitri).
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Saturday at 8:30 AM at Annunciation/Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church. Requiem Services will be sung at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Lawnview Cemetery, Rockledge, PA.
