Justyna Stebly, a longtime resident of Northeast Philadelphia, died Tuesday, February 6, 2018. Born in Lanchyn, Ukraine, Justyna was one of nine children of the late Mykola and Maria (Holinej) Jaremin.
Justyna emigrated to the United States with her husband Theodore Stebly and her daughter Alexandria (Alexandria's father Zenon had died during World War II). They settled in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia before moving to the Logan section of the city. They later relocated to Northeast Philadelphia. Justyna was employed as a seamstress for a clothing manufacturer for many years before retiring.
Upmost in her life was her love of her family which was strengthened by her strong faith and love of the Ukrainian Catholic Church. Her patriotism and love of Ukraine remained strong throughout her life.
Justyna was the wife of the late Theodore and loving mother of Alexandria Procyk, George Stebly and Larysa Stebly. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Adrianna Kostryckyj-Kropp (Andrew), Larysa Winkelspecht (Matt) and Mykola Procyk (Carol) ; nine great-grandchildren and her siblings: Olesh Jaremin, Marijka and Anna and their families in Ukraine and Poland. Along with her husband Theodore, she is also predeceased by her granddaughter Olenka Procyk Slivinski.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday at 10 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church. Requiem Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Elkins Park, PA.
