June Smith Obituary

With deepest sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved mother, June O. Smith, wife of the late Howard “Bud” Smith, on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the age of 82.

Born in Philadelphia, growing up in New York state, moved back to the area and was married.  She was a long time resident of the Somerton section of Philadelphia and very involved in the community.  A crossing guard at Watson T. Comly School for 29 years, she also volunteered with the Home & School association and school library.  She regularly attended Somerton Civic meetings and was a girls softball coach for Somerton Youth Organization including the traveling team with her late husband Bud for many years.

Her many interests included watching sports (Eagles, Phillies and Nascar racing).  Her summers were spent down the shore in Oceanview, NJ and Hilton Head Island, SC.

June is survived by five children:  Don H. Smith, Karen L. Kennedy, Gregory J. Smith (Gail), Daniel R. Smith, and June D. Smith;  7 grandchildren:  Melanie, Jessica, Heather, Corey, Gregory, Kaitlin and Geoffrey; 3 great grandchildren:  Emma, Amber and June Ann. She also leaves her cousin {and family}, three nieces, three great nieces, two great nephews, and many friends behind.

In lieu of flowers, please support the American Lung Association.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Fletcher-Nasevich funeral home.  Her funeral will be held on Saturday with visitation from 9 am to 11 am.  Her funeral services will be held at 11 am.  Burial will follow at William Penn Cemetery.
