Emilia Wojcich (nee Leskiw), beloved wife of the late Walter, quietly passed on Tuesday, October 1st 2019 with her family by her side, She was 91 years old.
Emilia was predeceased by her husband, Walter who passed in 1981, son Zenon in 1994, daughter Daria in 2002 and her dear companion Stanley Melnyk in 1990.
Emilia is survived by her children, Irene Walton (John), Susan King (David), and Raymond Melnyk (Michael Cook). She is also survived by her Grandchildren Jessica Murray (Timothy) and Michael King (Camille), her great-grandchildren Sophie, Diego and Mila Grace. And also by her dear friend Ronald Daulerio.
Emilia was born in the town of Ozirna, Ukraine. The daughter of Petro and Maria Leskiw, she immigrated through New York to Yellowstone Montana in the United States with her husband Walter in July of 1950. Moving to the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia and eventually settling in Mayfair. There they raised their children while attending Christ the King Church on Cayuga Street.
Emilia worked as a seamstress for Stanley Blacker for many years, She loved her family and friends, and enjoyed music and making new friends. She loved to sing belonging to the choir at Church, and her Ukrainian culture and heritage, spending many happy hours with her friends at The Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center in Jenkintown.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing beginning 9:30 AM, Saturday October 12, 2019 at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, Castor Ave. & Shelmire Street in Philadelphia. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM.
Burial will follow at Saint Mary Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Elkins Park, PA.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her memory may be made to the Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center, 700 N Cedar Rd, Jenkintown, PA 19046. To honor the love she had of her Ukrainian Heritage and Culture.
