Bohdan (Bob) Zeno Sahasaylo, a former resident of Philadelphia who retired in Naples, Florida, died on the morning of April 29, 2019 in Sarasota,FL. He was 67 years young.
He was a first generation and proud American. His late parents, Wasyl and Anna (Schwed) Sahasaylo, immigrated from Germany after WWII, by way of Ukraine. Bob was a family man and enjoyed a simple life full of love and happiness. He grew up in the Logan section of Philadelphia, graduated from Cardinal Dougherty HS in 1970, and attended La Salle College.
His occupation was a wallpaper hanger. He dedicated time to coaching youth baseball in the 1990's at Max Myers playground. He was very handy and later in life fixed up his retirement home in Florida where he loved gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (McGinty), his son, Robert (Mary Kate), his daughter, Kathryn (Ronald Gottshall II), his granddaughter, Emmy Kathryn, and his sister, Luba Sahasaylo (the late George Hammen), sister and brother in-laws, many nieces and nephews, and his cousins in Ukraine.
A memorial will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 5:30 PM to 8 PM at the Fletcher-Nasevich Funeral Home in Philadelphia to celebrate Bob’s life. Parastas prayers will be sung in Bob's memory at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers please donate in Bob’s name to the Salvation Army.
