Abilio Da Silva, 84, beloved husband, daddy and avo, received his angel wings and entered the “Gates of Heaven” on August 27, 2018.
He was born on December 27, 1933 in Serro Ventoso, Portugal to Beatriz Da Silva and Francisco Da Silva Pegada. Despite being an excellent student, he left school at an early age and became a tailor to help support his family.
In 1961 he married the love of his life, Maria Amelia Cordeiro Venda and was blessed with two little girls a few years later, Maria and Dina.
On August 30, 1969 he came to the United States and made Philadelphia home. He spent the next 20 years working as a tailor, until his health dictated otherwise. After each health scare over the next 30 years, he battled with courage and determination. His desire to live was equally matched by his love of life.
He was completely devoted to his family and was cherished by everyone he met. He enjoyed trips to Portugal, gardening, traveling, watching his Benfica and discussing soccer with devoted son-in laws, Chico and Norberto, and spending time with his 6 grandchildren (Michael, David, Cristina, Andrew, Celena and Brianna) and the rest of his beautiful and treasured family.
Family and Friends are invited to a Celebration of his Life on Friday, August 31st at Resurrection of Our Lord Church (2000 Shelmire Ave. Philadelphia, Pa 19152) starting at 9:30 followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 am.
Our family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult journey.
