Patricia Saverino Obituary

Patricia (Brown) Saverino passed away suddenly at the age of 82 years old on Thursday, April 11 surrounded by her family.

Patricia was born in New York to Claire and Thomas Brown who claim that she only ever had “one bad year” in which she misbehaved while growing up. She met Vincent Saverino, a young boy with good hair, in grade school who carried a briefcase and offered to carry her schoolbooks as well. The experiences and friendships created in Parkchester stayed with her always.

Patricia and Vincent married on September 15, 1962. As Vincent followed his dream of entering the priesthood, Patricia stayed at home to care for their growing family.  Once Vincent got his own parish, St. Michael’s in Philadelphia, Patricia began to pursue her career in nursing following in the tradition of her mother and aunt and become a nurse.

She graduated from Einstein Hospital School of Nursing, earned her BSN from LaSalle University, her Master’s degree from Penn State University and her Nurse Practitioner certificate from Georgetown University.  Patricia loved nursing and the NICU was the place that she was meant to be.  A highlight of her career was her time at Rolling Hill Hospital and the many friends that she made there held a very special place in her heart.

She found fellowship at St. Michael Russian Orthodox Church, and there she created traditions and fostered friendships that she valued greatly.

If she had not become a nurse, Patricia could have had a career in event planning. Significant anniversaries, every family birthday, time away in Maine, Sunday after church, get-togethers with former colleagues, boat tours that her husband and brother-in-law decried but ended up reminiscing about for years: she was always planning get-togethers.

Despite being officially retired, Pat was available and on call for everyone to review medical conditions and treatment options. She was a proud mother and grandmother, and was always up for celebrating the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband and daughter Claire and son-in-law Ian.  She is survived by her children: Anastasia Saverino, Barbara Saverino, Kathleen (Lou) Belmonte, Mary (Art Dupras) Saverino, and Tatiana Saverino.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Alexandra, Benjamin, Sam, Noah, Travis, Max, Anthony, and Nikos.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wayne Senior Center, 108 Station Road, Wayne, PA 19087
